Anime Spotlight - Namu Amida Butsu Rendai Utena
I really wanted to love this anime and it’s not bad but not as good as i wanted it to be. The boys are really pretty but they never really flesh them out enough.
The plot is the Thirteen Buddha, along with Taishakuten and Bonten, must confront the evil Māra. Māra seeks revenge against Shaka Nyorai, who had previously saved the world from suffering and conflict by achieving enlightenment.
I wanted to have lots of hot bishonen that I could at least ship and yes there is some light shipping for Bonten and Taishakuten but the story didn’t play out with as much excitment or character development. This is one of the anime’s that look great with great character designs but lacks depth. It was pretty simple and under whelming.
Its worth checking out if you need a good bishonen fix but it lacks complexity, or threat or development to be really good.
